Mica Inquiry

We also started out our new Inquiry combining our Science and Social Studies together. We are going to be learning about Rocks and Minerals and India.

We started learning about child mining in India in the states of Jharkhand and Bihar . The children mine for Mica which is a shiny mineral used in make-up, car paint and toothpaste. We practiced mining for "mica" in the dark in the sand tubs from the school.  Doing so made us so tired, our backs hurt and it helped have more empathy for those kids to do this everyday of their lives. Our new inquiry question is:

How are Children's Right affected by Mica Mining in India?
